Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

Antenatal clinic

This clinic is run by the midwife. If you become pregnant, you will be given a ‘booking appointment’ at which the midwife will ask you a few questions and carry out some general health checks.

You will be seen regularly throughout your pregnancy either at the practice or at the local hospital, or both.

Baby 6-8 week check/post-natal clinic

All new babies and Mothers are invited for a check up when baby is six to eight weeks old.

Cervical smears

These are normally carried out by the practice nurses. Please request a smear appointment with the nurse or telephone the surgery appointment line to make a convenient appointment. Please note, these can also be done on a Saturday morning for your convenience. If you have any problems or queries about cervical smears, please contact a practice nurse online.

Chiropody/podiatry clinic

If you have a problem with your feet, the doctor may refer you to the podiatrist.

Contraception and sexual health

Comprehensive, confidential advice is available during normal surgery hours.  We offer oral contraceptives, injectable contraception, sub-dermal implants and IUDs.  We also offer emergency contraceptive advice. We would recommend you visit your closest sexual health clinic if you require a full sexual health check.

Please visit www.dgft.nhs.uk/sexual-health-community for more information.

If you have been advised by the surgery to complete a review of your contraception, you will need to fill out our online Contraception Review Form.

Counselling

Patients are also able to self refer to Dudley Talking Therapies for counselling, as well as the practice. Please visit the Dudley Talking Therapy Service page for more information.

Dietician

If your doctor feels it is appropriate to refer you for dietary advice they will arrange for you to consult with a dietician.

Over 75’s

Patients 75 years and over who have not had a consultation within the last 12 months may request a health review with one of our practice team.

If you are unable to attend the surgery please contact the practice.

Immunisations for babies to pre-school

Baby and childhood immunisations are carried out by the practice nurse, you will be invited by letter from child health.

If you cannot bring your child yourself you can give written permission for a relative to do so on your behalf.

Long term condition management

Our nursing team have a wide range of skills to help monitor patient long term conditions and will offer health advice in order to reduce further health risks and to enable patients to live the healthiest possible lifestyle.

Long term condition reviews take place in the birth month of all patients. It is the patients responsibility to remember to complete the annual review. The practice will send up to 2 reminders via text, email, note on prescriptions or phone calls. Long term reviews take place either face to face or remotely depending on patients needs. We advise that all patients purchase a home blood pressure machine as well as weighing scales for home monitoring purposes. The practice has a blood pressure machine and weighing scale in the waiting room which is available to use during opening hours.

Patients who require blood monitoring as part of their annual check up will  be given their blood request form at their annual review. Mislaid forms can be requested. We ask all patients to attend for their blood / urine tests one week before their review is due.

Minor surgery

Procedures such as joint injections and skin problems can often be done in our treatment room, avoiding the need for hospital referral and the delays involved.

Please ask us regarding any moles, lumps or bumps that you are concerned about, as many may be suitable for removal at the surgery. Please discuss this with your doctor who will then arrange for you to be given an appointment.

Our triage team can book you directly in with our in house First Contact Orthopaedic Practitioner for an assessment.
